Metairie Humane
100% No Kill Companion Animal Rescue

Exogeny Media Partners has a commitment to non-profit groups.
This is more than simply lip service.  We donate our time and energy to causes we consider important.  One such cause is 100% no-kill pet rescue.  The organization we volunteer with?

See some of the photographs from previous fund raising events.

Joan Delahoussaye is one of the board members and handles the majority of adoptions.  Here, she is engraving a pet id tag at the "Star Paws" event in the spring of 2010.  Identification tags are a dog's first line of defense at being reunited with their owner, always keep an easy-to-read tag with current phone numbers on your dog's collar, even if the collar is never used to walk the dog.  This is the first place anyone will look for signs of ownership and how to return the dog to its home.

At Star Paws, there was a variety of food and treats for man and beast, as well as some very cute clothing.  Are you a Saints fan?  They had doggy jerseys, for both boys AND girls!  (Some for the large ones too!)

Volunteers at the hot dog sales taking a break just before the big event started.  There were hot dogs, chili, chips, and cold drinks to satisfy  anyone.

Delicious homemade cupcakes were another specialty at the Star Paws 2010 event, as well as at Howl O Weenie 2009.  They are sinfully delicious, and almost too beautiful to eat!

The Bayou Bakery bunch also put their efforts into some fantastic doggy cookies.  My dogs LOVED them!

The DJ at the event did an excellent job, and he kept the mood very cheerful with the music, as well as being a great assistant during the judging.

Another view of the booths with food, treats, and doggy apparel.

The many animals up for adoption had their pictures and descriptions posted on the board.
Adopting a pet should never be a spur-of-the-moment decision,
as it is a life long commitment.

Organizations such as Metairie Humane can only survive with the generous donations from the public.  Considering donating!

See some of their rescues, past and present:

Lagniappe is a cute chihuahua, but once upon a time, she was a very frightened dog living on the streets.  Terrified, she tried to bite anyone who got near her, right up until she met Harold Delahoussaye.  About all she bites these days is some sausage!

Once upon a time, Tippy was a terrified young dog fresh from the dog pound's death row.  She would show her teeth in a broad but not-very-friendly "colgate grin" when strangers approached her, and was very shy with new people.  She stayed with Metairie Humane for over 2 years!  Today, she has a very nice forever home with a school teacher who loves her very much.  In this photograph, Tippy is modeling a pink faux fur "leopard" coat from Metairie Humane's Petique.  Isn't she beautiful?
