J.C. Johnson
J.C. Johnson lives in the Four Corners region of the Southwest. It's a beautiful area, with the Hopi's mesas, the hogans of the Navajo, the red rocks, and so many other iconic features often portrayed in films, dating all the way back to the early days of the western film genre.
The early days of the railroad also featured the Harvey Houses, as the railroad companies began promoting tourism to encourage travel by rail. These Harvey Houses were founded by Fred Harvey in 1870, initially focusing on providing quality hotels & restaurants for travelers. In Arizona, El Tovar at the Grand Canyon and La Posada in Winslow, are still in operation.
Later, as the heyday of the railroad faded and the rise of the highway and automobile travel industry crossed this region with Route 66. While the famous Route 66 no longer exists in its entirety, many of the former attractions along its route are still there.
Today, this region has Interstate 40 crossing along the southern edge, and other highways crisscrossing with it. Gallup, Farmington, Flagstaff, Page, Window Rock & Durango are probably the larger towns located on or near the region, but it is still only sparsely populated. It still features tourism among the larger industries as well.
